GIVE YOUR COLLEGE ENTRANCE APPLICATION A BOOST

By completing one of steps below you will qualify to be named as an AEL Student Citizenship Award winner, receive an official award certificate and lapel pin in recognition of your award, and have a valuable extra-curricular activity to add to your college entrance application.

The requirements for the award are:

Prepare a report on an AEL video that you have seen in your class. The report should include what lessons you learned from the video, as well as a synopsis of what aspects of American history, culture or values were covered by the video.

Write a brief (no more than 300 words) essay on a significant person in your life, explaining how and why that person made an impression on you.

Explain a community service and/or organization that you belong to, how you participate and how the service or organization helps make your community a better place. If you are not a member of an official organization, the service can be something done on your own.

Describe how you are a responsible member of your family. This could be how you assist around the house with chores, help your siblings at home or at school, activities you participate in with their family, or any number of areas where you might be of assistance to your family as a whole or any of its members as individuals.
