First Prize: $3,000.

Second Prize: $1,500.

WHAT:

The Engineering Innovation Award is a college level program open to students who are majoring in any engineering discipline.

The award seeks students who have developed new engineering solutions to 21st century problems. These could include but are not limited to areas such as more energy efficient buildings (including architectural design, heating/cooling systems, people moving, etc.), more efficient and ecologically friendly ways to extract natural resources, advances in alternate fuel technology for automobiles and trucks, cost efficient alternatives to current heating/cooling fuels, etc.

The "etc" is important in the above paragraph, as there are no boundaries on the innovation that is eligible for this award. The only qualifications are that it be the work product of an engineering major, and that it show promise of benefitting the American economy and standard of living.
